KIDDIE FIGHT CLUB

Everyone remembers the movie Fight Club, right? Well, it looks like a daycare center in Delaware is housing the next Tyler Durden! That's right! I said a daycare center. God, I love this story! It turns out; three employees of a Dover, Delaware daycare called The Hands of Our Future LLC Daycare were arrested Monday after police say a 'disturbing' cell phone video allegedly captured two toddlers participating in an organized fist fight. The daycare currently has its license suspended pending a hearing.

The center's employees, 19-year-old Tiana Harris, 21-year-old Estefania Myers, and 47-year-old Lisa Parker, are being accused of forcing two 3-year-olds to strike one another in the head and face repeatedly this past March. The Dover police captain remarked that the video, which showed two children just whaling on each other, was 'shocking, disturbing, and infuriating' to watch. He went on to say, "These are our most precious cargo and to have adults responsible for caring for their well-being to have them behave as such is sickening." Wait a minute! When I was younger, I was always pitted against my other cousins in fist fights. It's just what we did as boys! We fought! Why is this sickening? Back when we were kids, we didn't have video that can go viral like we do today, but boys will be boys. Let them fight! It's how we became who are today.

While the footage was not released publicly, police said one of the children could be heard yelling, "He's pinching me," while one of the workers responded, "No pinching; only punching!" Allegedly, one of the children was crying and did not want to continue on, but was pushed back into the fray by one of the adults. Okay, seriously! Who has never been here before? It sounds to me they were only teaching the boys how to fight. Court records show that Parker was forcing the toddlers to fight while Harris and Myers looked on and laughed spurring on the altercation.

Some parents from the daycare were shocked saying that they knew these three teachers and have even been on field trips with them and never saw anything irregular. One parent stated that she was pissed off because she felt that if her daughter was around anything like this, she should've known that day. Harris, Myers, and Parker were charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangering and conspiracy. The daycare's owner couldn't be reached for comment.

The only wrong that I see in this is that these kids weren't their own. I agree that they shouldn't be egging these kids on to fight. That was wrong. As for the fighting though, boys will be boys, so let them fight! It's the only way they will learn how. When did we become a society where we coddled our children to a point where we're borderline putting them in a bubble? For instance, I recently bought by nephews and niece a 12 foot trampoline with a net for their backyard. My sister decided to return it after hearing horror stories about kids breaking their arms and legs. So, what? Kids are durable! No one coddled us from those things when we were growing up. They sent us out there to ride our bikes (without helmets), eat dirt, get our bumps and bruises, and fight who we needed to survive. Kids today are nothing but a bunch of wusses! I know I'm going to catch some backlash for saying that, but those who have something to say, just reflect back to the time when you were growing up and you won't have a thing to say to me!
