A BEATING IN THE VILLAGE

Okay, this story is a little disturbing because we love going into New York City and enjoying the finer things that New York City has to offer. We don't, however, like this new welcoming committee that New York City has to offer. It turns out; a recent heinous beatdown in the heart of Greenwich Village, on MacDougal Street, to be exact, has left a Massachusetts man fighting for his life. 

According to police and eyewitnesses, 24-year-old, Kevin McCarron, was bashed with a tire iron, baseball bat and blackjack, and was stomped repeatedly by a gang of ruffians in the middle of McDougal Street early Sunday morning late Saturday night. On Monday, NYPD picked up 24-year-old, Hatem Farsakh and 22-year-old Sherif Rizk, from Brooklyn, who were arraigned on charges of attempted murder and assault. Witnesses were horrified by the savage attack. One 25-year-old witness who caught the incident on video said, "I started screaming for someone to call the police. It was hard to watch." Yet, I'm sure she watched it over and over again on the video footage she captured. 

The violent rumble erupted after McCarron, from Andover, Massachusetts, and his buddies argued with their attackers while leaving Artichoke Pizza around 5:15 a.m. One of the attackers was sitting on top of the car that McCarron and his friends drove into the city with, which prompted the alcohol-fueled altercation between the two posses. McCarron's assailants ran to the trunk of a black car and returned with the motley array of weapons and that's when all hell broke loose. According to eyewitnesses, at least seven men jumped on McCarron, beating him unconscious and fracturing his skull. A bouncer at a nearby bar said that they used a baseball bat and a tire iron in the beating. Another bouncer admitted, "I've been doing this job for a few years now and I've never seen such a brutal fight before." 

McCarron and a relative, Patrick McCarron, who suffered minor injuries, were rushed to Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. Why did this have to happen? Were the attackers that much of a bunch of pussies that they needed weapons to fight McCarron and his crew? Were they that much bigger? This is just another reason why people should keep their tempers in check because you never know what the other person is capable of. It doesn't matter how much alcohol is involved.
