I
thought that this story was sad and absolutely disgusting at the same time! I
thought that it was disgusting that modern medicine can treat birth like this
and it's also absurd that they allow some of these doctors to even practice.
Anyway, I'm talking about this Missouri couple who is suing their doctors for
separating their baby's head during a grisly botched birth and trying to cover
it up. Unbelievable!
It
turns out; a Missouri obstetrician separated a baby's head from his body during
delivery and then tried shoving the newborn back into the mother and performed
an emergency C-section to cover up the mess. Arteisha Betts and Travis
Ammonette of Florissant, Missouri recently filed a 10-count complaint last
month claiming doctors wrongly pushed them to have a vaginal delivery,
decapitated their son and the then tried to cover it up. The details of this
whole mess are absolutely horrifying! How do these people become doctors? This
couple has a lawsuit and a half on their hands.
It
was during a February 2011 doctor's appointment, the couple claimed that Dr.
Susan Moore told them that their baby would be delivered by C-section because
his abdomen was too large for a normal birth. Well, Betts went into labor
early, only 28 weeks into what is normally a 40-week pregnancy, on March 22.
The delivering doctor at St. John's Mercy Medical Center refused to perform a
C-section and only agreed to deliver he baby by way of attempted trial of
vaginal delivery. The doctor also refused to allow the couple to go to a
different hospital, so the couple consented to a trial vaginal delivery under
duress and protest. First of all, a doctor can only suggest another procedure.
They can't refuse to do a procedure, so this is pretty messed up if you ask me!
Anyway, in an attempt to pull the boy loose, the doctor applied traction to his
head and separated the baby's head from his cervical spine, where blood 'shot
out' from the newborn's neck in full view of his parents. The doctor then
pushed the baby's head and body back into the birth canal and scrambled to then
perform an emergency C-Section, slicing into Betts before the anesthesia even
kicked in. How mortifying is this story?
During
the procedure, the doctor allegedly 'surgically and completely removed' the
baby's head from his body. The doctor then tried to cover up the baby's wounds
before handling him over to the parents. I really cannot believe this
horrifying story! The couple is accusing the group for wrongful death and
negligence and is seeking unspecified damages, which I think they will get. The
hospital was not named in the suit. I have to admit that I am speechless over
these events! I have nothing more to say about this!
