I
saw this story yesterday and thought it was just weird! Let's see what you
think. So, it turns out; a 2-year-old in China has reportedly "given
birth" to the underdeveloped fetus of his twin. How is this even possible?
Xiao Feng, of Huaxi, China, was recently taken to the hospital after his
parents noticed he had a bloated stomach and was having trouble
breathing.
Doctors
found that the baby was carrying an underdeveloped fetus inside his stomach and
removed it through emergency surgery. According to doctors, it was the fetus of
Feng's twin. Identical twins occur when a fertilized egg splits in two.
Conjoined twins occur when a fertilized egg begins to split, but fails to do so
completely. In Feng's case, the fetus was his conjoined twin that had been
absorbed into his body inside the womb. What the hell? I wonder if something
like this has ever even happened before? Why does China always get to have all
of the fun? Last week, it was a guy with a nose on his head and this week a
baby who gave birth to a baby.
Doctors
surgically removed the fetus, noting that Feng would have died if the parasitic
twin hadn't been removed. The dead fetus was about 10 inches wide and had a
fully-formed spine and limbs. It could have been like a scene out of Alien?
Is this a little too bizarre to be believable? I think so! But the same thing
happened last year to a three-year-old little boy in Peru, where he was found
to be carrying his parasitic twin brother inside of him. And in 2008, there was
a similar case involving a 9-year-old in Greece. The girl was diagnosed with a
tumor that turned out to be concealing the undeveloped embryo of her parasitic
twin. I have no explanation for this. I'm guessing this is where Siamese twins
come from. These are just more things to make you go "hmmmmm."
