This
is a pretty disturbing story, but for some reason pretty similar to a scene in
last night's episode of Sons of Anarchy. Let's see if you agree. So, a
body with no head and no hands was found stuffed into a drum and found in a
rural area of Rockdale Township in northwest Pennsylvania recently. Police are
saying the father of the dead body's girlfriend was responsible for the
slaying. That's this guy, 68-year-old, Richard Alfred Houy.
At
the moment, a DNA test is still pending, though police believe the butchered
body found this past Friday in Rockdale Township belonged to 55-year-old Gerald
Paul VanDyke, who's been missing since September 14. According to the autopsy,
the man had been shot through the heart with a hunting arrow, and his aorta was
punctured. A day before police made the gruesome discovery, Houy of Cambridge
Springs, was arrested and charged with VanDyke's killing.
State
Police say that Houy confessed to the crime. VanDyke, from Union City, PA was
his daughter's longtime boyfriend. The motive for the killing wasn't clear,
though police said it came amid turmoil between VanDyke and Tina Skelton,
Houy's daughter, who told her father she wanted to break up with VanDyke. Maybe
I watch too much TV, but this scenario keeps popping into my head since we
really haven't heard about the daughter much in this story. Could it be
possible that the daughter was in on this as well? Listen to this scenario; the
daughter gets upset with VanDyke and wants to break up with him. They get into
a fight and she shoots him with a bow and arrow, but accidentally the arrow
goes through his heart killing him. Her father, Houy tells her that he will
help her cover it up so that they don't get caught, so he chops of VanDyke's
head and hands so that the body could not be identified and stuffed the body
into the barrel. Here's another question; where the hell are the hands and
head? Anyway, so because they were caught, Houy decided to take the blame and
confess to protect his daughter. Does that sound believable? Then again, this
guy, Houy, looks like a cold-blooded killer that used to work for one of the
mobs, whether it was Italian, Russian, or Irish.
Houy
is being held without bond in Crawford County Jail. He's due in court on
October 10. VanDyke's aunt remembers her nephew as a "happy-go-lucky good
guy," and asks, "Who would ever remove parts of the body? It is one
thing to get angry and kill someone, but to dismember him, that is about as low
as you can get." I agree wholeheartedly and that's why my scenario makes
more sense.
