Can you imagine getting kicked out of
a pool because you were wearing too little? Can you imagine getting kicked out
of a pool because you were fully-figured? Or how about getting kicked out
of a pool because you were too old? Well, all of these questions can be
answered by Madelyn Sheaffer from Independence, Missouri. After working her
tail off to shed about 100 pounds, she finally decided to wear a bikini while
swimming at the Adventure Oasis Water Park in Independence. She is claiming
that employees and upper management at the Park discriminated against her by
asking her to cover up or leave because of her full figure. That's right! In
other words, "Ma'am, please leave, you whale!" I have to be honest;
the Park's behavior was pretty unprofessional and pretty disgusting!
Sheaffer, who busted her ass to lose
100 pounds, finally felt confident enough in her own skin to wear a bikini and
she had to deal with this sort of treatment? Sheaffer says she was singled out
and feels it was both age and body discrimination. She was in the swimming pool
with her niece and nephew when two park employees allegedly walked up to her
and asked her to throw on some shorts and that he bottoms were too small. Um,
if anything, take a look at the photo above; it seems her top was too small for
her boobs! Unless her butt cheeks were fully exposed or she had a jungle
creeping out the sides of her bikini, these guys had no reason to tell Miss
Sheaffer to cover up. Unfazed, though, by the request, she asked to speak to a
higher up, who sang the same tune as the employees and actually showed her the
exit in case she didn't want to comply with the demand. How embarrassing!
According to Sheaffer, there were
younger girls in the pool who wore similar swimsuits and were not being told to
cover up. She said, "There were 16- or 18-year-old girls wearing just the
same amount and no one's criticizing them or making them feel ashamed or feel
uncomfortable in their bodies." She's absolutely right! Then again, Miss
Sheaffer has to understand that these girls were only 16- or 18-year old girls,
which was probably the same age as the employees and the manager of Adventure
Oasis.
Sheaffer has since files a complaint
against the water park, but a representative from the City of Independence stated
that managers have the final say when it comes to deciding whether or not a
customer is wearing appropriate clothing. Of course, they do, but that doesn't
mean they're not discriminating. So, according to the rep, if I was kicked out
by the manager for being too Asian, that's okay because he's the manager and
has the final say? Man, they are stupid in Missouri too! One Facebook supporter
on this topic wrote on the news channel's Facebook page: "She looks
awesome! We wonder why our young girls have so many eating problems." It's
true! Personally, I think Miss Sheaffer looks great too and should be able to
show off her newly transformed body and I'm not trying to be perverted about it
either. She worked her tail off to lose 100 pounds, why can't she show it off.
These kids that work at this water park need to be fired and need a lesson in
life!
