To
many people, social networking is a way to stay in touch with friends and
family whom they haven't seen in some time or are simply just too far to visit.
Many use it as a platform for advertising their products or projects. Some even
use it as a source for news. Well, a brewpub in Reno, Nevada, recently used
social media to publicly shame a deadbeat customer who walked out on his tab.
The post quickly went viral and three other bars in the area have come forward
claiming Saul Zelazbog skipped out on tabs at their establishments, as well.
What a scumbag!
'm
sure at one time or another, we've all joked about skipping out on the tab, but
have never really gone through with it. It seems this Zelazbog guy has had no
problem making a habit of it.
After
Zelazbog ran out on his tab at Brewer's Cabinet in Reno, the bar turned to
Facebook to exact its revenge. The workers at Brewer's Cabinet bar and
restaurant described Zelaznog as a "serial thief." He's being accused
of eating dinner at the pub with friends last Tuesday and walking out on his
portion of the bill. Chris Kahl, the manager of Brewer's Cabinet stated,
"All his friends paid and left and he was the last one. The server needed
to collect his money. He said he forgot his wallet." Oh, gee! That's an
old one! Before Zelaznog did manage to escape, however, one of the restaurant's
waiters managed to snap a photo of the familiar patron and a manager posted
along with a warning on Brewer's Cabinet's Facebook page that read like this:
"ATTN RENO: If you know, or see, this dude, please call RENO POLICE DEPT
at 334-2121 immediately, and then remind him that his tab at The Brewer's
Cabinet is still waiting to be paid. And while you're at it, you could tell him
that visiting restaurants/bars with friends, running up a huge bill, roughing
up servers and then bailing is pretty uncool...pathetic, really. Get a life,
man." I couldn't have said it better myself! If you look at his photo, it
just gleems "douchebag," too!
The
post quickly went viral in the Reno area, being shared nearly 700 times. Three
other Reno bars confirmed after seeing his photo that Zelaznog had also run out
on the tab he racked up at their establishments, as well. Local media picked up
on the story, further spreading Zelaznog's photo. Geez, how is this guy going
to even leave his house now? He's going to have to move to another state just
to start this racket all over again. Otherwise, he won't even be able to eat or
drink since these restaurant/bars are already onto him.
Despite
being accused of pulling the old 'dine and ditch" routine at four
different bars, Zelaznog claims he is not guilty of being a deadbeat. One news
source did catch up with him and he told them, "They're acting like I ran
out of there, I was going to be back to take care of my tab." Then why
haven't you yet, is what I want to know! If you were going to take care of your
tab and you forgot your wallet, it shouldn't have taken you days to get your
wallet. It sounds to be like someone is back pedaling now that his photo is all
over Facebook. The employees at the watering holes Zelaznog has frequented
aren't holding their breath for his return to pay his tabs either. Brewer's
Cabinet filed a police report on Tuesday and the matter is currently being
investigated.
It's
people like Zelaznog who ruin it for trustworthy people. Say I'm in Reno and I
happen to go to Brewer's Cabinet, and I really did forget my wallet in the car,
these guys will not let me leave the restaurant to get my wallet because of
this guy and I wouldn't even blame them. Its pricks like him who ruin everything for everybody! The one good thing to come out of this is just more
proof that social media is one of the best sources to spread the word as 700
shares within an hour doesn't lie. So, to all you naysayers about social
networking, "Sorry, it seems like it's here to stay!"
