I
don't know why I find this story so hilarious, but I do. I'm sure there are
more stories out there that I could've written about, but I'd rather share a
story with you that wouldn't get as much coverage as a Hofstra Sorority house
shooting or something big like that. Anyway, it turns out; Virginia Maiden, a
McDonald's employee from Kennewick, Washington, had a 1995 Toyota 4Runner that
was stolen from right in front of her house early Tuesday morning. Would you
believe it if I told you that same 4Runner showed up in line of the McDonald's
Drive-Thru that Maiden worked at? How's that for fate?
So,
as the story goes; Maiden's Toyota 4Runner was lifted from her home in
Kennewick in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Upset about the theft and
without a vehicle, Maiden managed to make it to work on time using public
transportation, which if it was New York City, she never would've gotten to
work on time. Much to Maiden's surprise, at around 3 p.m., only a few hours
after the car was stolen, her jacked car pulled right up in front of her
restaurant. She recognized it right away and made the call to the police, who
arrived before the vehicle could even make it out of the parking lot.
They
detained 22-year-old driver Katherine York and an unidentified male passenger,
who was later found to have no connection to the theft. Police say they found
large amounts of clothing in the backseat of the vehicle, complete with
security tags that had been previously stolen from JCPenney and Sears. York was
booked in the Benton County jail. Can I be the first to say, "What an
idiot?" Why would you steal a car and stay in the neighborhood that you
stole it from? It's not rocket science! It's Thievery 101! Also, why would you
stop in a public place with a car that you just stole? Did you really think
that the person you stole the car from wasn't going to report the car as
stolen? Reading stories like this really gives you little faith in humanity and
the human brain! But it's still very comical!
