I've
heard of some pretty ridiculous things to be arrested for, but this might take
the cake! Oh, and speaking of being arrested, I just read that Governor Cuomo
is about to pass a law where you're allowed to have a maximum of a dime bag (25
grams) of marijuana on you without getting arrested for possession. His main
focus will be for those carrying, not to smoke it in public. Um, no problem?
Anyway, back to the story at hand! Apparently, a South Carolina mom, Shannon
Cooper, was arrested on Saturday night during her daughter's high school
graduation for, get this, disorderly conduct! It turns out; Cooper was accused
of whooping so loudly during the ceremony, out of excitement, obviously, that
the police officers felt the need to take her in. Are you kidding me?
I've
heard of beach balls and bullhorns getting banned from these ceremonies, but
now parents? Really? Graduation is a time of joy and excitement for both
parents and student! If a parent wants to be overzealous, let them! They put up
with just as much as the student has! In fact, they will have to put up with
more even after, so let them gave their time! No need to arrest a parent for
cheering on their kid. This is unbelievable!
Cooper
said that she didn't act any differently than any other families when their
children's names were called during the South Florence High School ceremony.
Her daughter, Lesha, said that she didn't even realize her mother was being
arrested until her friends told her about it. Police allegedly warned parents
that screaming would result in expulsion from the Florence Civic Center. Those who
became disorderly as they were shown the exit were also arrested and that
Cooper was not the only one. Cooper and company were detained for several hours
before posting a $225 bond. That is just absurd! How can they ruin a poor
girl's graduation day like this?
In
a related story, an Ohio high school student didn't get jail time, but he
received community service! Supposedly, the family of Mount Healthy
Junior/Senior High School student, Anthony Cornist, gave him such a rowdy
reception that school officials denied him his diploma and told him that he had
to perform 20 hours of community service before he can graduate! WHAT?? He
didn't even do anything! Why did he get punished? Apparently, the school is
allowing Cornist to split the community service with his family, but his mother
said in a recent statement that the punishment was "ludicrous" and
none of them would be doing it! Good! That's because no one here, in either of
these stories, did anything wrong! Someone get these people a lawyer! I smell
some money here! Besides, what could possibly be next? Getting arrested for
waving at your child on stage during graduation? This is absolutely ridiculous!
I know this has nothing to do with the story, but you brought it up. It seems like you could be in more trouble carrying a big gulp soda than carrying weed with you.
ReplyDeleteHaha! That's true! Your probably right! But I think Bloomberg was shot down on that.
