What
would you do if you found four young boys vandalizing your house? You'd
probably be pretty pissed off and want to strangle the boys if you caught them,
right? So, was Jesse Daniels of Clyde, NY, wrong for what he did? Daniels is
now facing jail time after he caught a group of vandals destroying a home he
was renovating and then locked them in a closet until police arrived. So, what
did he do wrong? It seems to me that he was protecting his property.
Daniels
caught the four boys trashing the house next to his home on Orchard Street
after he heard banging noises at around 9 pm Saturday. The vandalized house was
empty and Daniels had spent years renovating it for his father-in-law, Richard
Muoio. After hearing the noises, he went over to the house to see what the
noises were and he found four boys, ages 8 and 10, smashing walls, windows and
fixtures with hammers. Derogatory words for women were also sprayed painted on
the walls. An infuriated Daniels said, "One person was sitting on the
floor and the other ones were swinging, just swinging crazy!"
Daniels
went on to say that he grabbed one hammer and told the boys to put their
hammers down. He said he was also fortunate enough that the boys were in the
room that had a closet, so he put them in until the police arrived and arrested
the boys. They were charged with burglary and criminal mischief. But here's the
kicker; now the boys' parents are saying that Daniels threatened their sons,
shoved them and even grabbed one of them by the throat. Paul Bowler, the father
of two of the little goons, showed a local news channel a photo of red marks on
his son's neck. Bowler says, "They're traumatized. They haven't been to
school and they don't sleep until the sun comes up." Oh, boo hoo! Did you
see the damage your sons did to Daniels house? I think the way Daniels reacted
was justified. If anyone should go to jail, it should be Bowler (the father of
the boys) for neglecting his kids and allowing them to go out into the
neighborhood with hammers and vandalizing a house. If they weren't out doing
that, then they wouldn't have been so traumatized.
Daniels
has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and is due back in
court later this month. He estimated that the little brats caused about $40,000
worth of damage to the home, but he's the one who might face jail time! I think
the parents of these boys are lucky their kids are still alive because I could
care less that they were 8 or 10, I would've given them the beating of a
lifetime if I caught them vandalizing my home. In fact, the parents should be
paying for the house to be repaired rather than playing the victims here. Where
is the justice here? A guy gets his house smashed in, he takes matters into his
own hands until police arrive, and he might go to jail for it? Does that make
any sense to anyone? According to police, the rampage started because the boys
were angry that Daniels' wife had told them to stay out of her yard earlier
that day. Oh, that's a good reason to vandalize someone's home! Daniels claims
that he was just trying to protect his family and that he was sick to his
stomach and a nervous wreck over this and he just did what he thought was the right
thing. I think he did the right thing and he should not be punished for it. If
he sees any jail time for this at all, there is no justice in the justice
system! If the parents of the boys end up paying for damages, then I might have
faith in it again. I could care less that the boys are traumatized! They are 8
and 10! Mind your children then! This is an atrocity.
